', or similar).. but, i'd just like to start a thread about certain songs giving me goosebumps.

y'know, when you hear a song that profoundly effects you in some difficult-to-describe way and the hairs on your arm stand on end even though the room temperature's comfortably warm.. so, which songs give you goosebumps?.

JW views on saving and retirement

probably one of the most common causes of cognitive dissonance many jws face is the choice to plan for retirement.

if you're a good jw, then you should believe that the end will be coming soon, surely before you retire.

that's what i did when i was younger, blowing decades that could've been better spent because i believed the end was coming, so any planning was a waste of time.

Pioneering wife #1 went ballistic when she noticed my payroll deductions for the 401k, IRA, and various insurances back in 1985. She went to the elders and "turned me in" for my lack of faith. lol. She even had two elders come and council me for my "lack of faith" in the coming destruction of the evil system.
(She left me 1990 ( thankfully!) saying my "lack of faith" was spiritually damaging her...and pioneered..until she ran out of that evil $$, had to work fulltime, and then decided to shack up with a wealthy attorney to support her,....who soon dumped her. She ended up a penniless bag lady in her late 60s.)

Yes, so true. I wanted to have a savings account. My wife insisted Armageddon was coming and we would not need it. Two young daughters, a mortgage and a good paying job. We could have saved a tidy sum. But there would have been no peace in the house so I gave in. She bought lots of stuff. Then the split. 20 years later I am saving like crazy. Over $2000 a month and counting each dollar to see how long it will last me. With pensions I am at about 10 years after retirement, which is still down the road and I am 68. Good job, good pay and probably working until 72 and saving like crazy, sacrificing everything to make sure I have some money when I am 85. If I die before then the kids can have it. Where is she? How much money does she have to live on? Don't know and don't care.

At first I was cynical but now I am enjoying listening to her. Obviously a young'un and dillusional. For a young Swede she speaks very good English. I suppose Swedish education makes learning English compulsory. Either that or they are intelligent enough to know you have to speak English in our modern world to succeed on the world stage.

It seems to me that a foreigner who speaks good English, but with a heavy accent, can get more attention than one who only speaks English. She also speaks with a seriousness beyond her years. What the Bible may call, "Speaking with authority." Anyway, I would rather she be touring and giving speeches than not.

Okay, here goes. I am no longer a 67 year old, 5 foot 10 inch white male. I am now a 30 year old, 6 foot 2 inch Asian male with all of my teeth and a full head of hair. I have been asking 25 year old Asian women out on dates and not one has accepted my invitation. NOT ONE! This is so offensive to me, a young Asian male. This must be a hate crime of some kind and I may go to the authorities to have them charged. I am so angry.
